About the conference

Is it possible to plan people-centric streets and friendly urban environments in Northern cities that face rough winters?

This conference will examine Streets Designed as Public Spaces with examples in Northern Climate cities and other cities around the world illustrating the social-political support required to foster the development of better cities.

  • Gehl Architects urban researcher (Gehl Research Studio) since 2007: qualitative surveys, public life surveys, interview surveys, competitions programs and strategic communications;
  • Nordic City Network Coordinator;
  • Master degree in social anthropology (University of Copenhagen). Master degree in Urban Development Planning (University College, London).

  • Gehl Architects Project Manager since 2005: competitions, regeneration strategies, citizen involvement processes, strategic planning frameworks and sustainable cities. Responsible for Gehl Architects operations in China;
  • Lecturer responsible for the course on European Urban Design Theory at the Danish International Study Abroad (DIS);
  • Co-author of the book "Architecture in mutation" (« Arkitektur der forandrer »).
