Normand Brunet has gained expertise on environment and development-related issues at the urban, regional and global levels. With a Ph.D. in environmental science and thirty years of experience, Normand is able to work in many areas such as research, training, and international cooperation and intervention which include the planning and management of the urban environment, local cooperation, state participation, integrated environmental management, coastal management, ecodevelopment, international development research, research on Brazil, etc. He is particularly interested in interface issues in order to ease current blockages or to build new bridges that will enable the development of a more global vision and the application of scientific knowledge to social evolution. These interfaces include research/application; ecological/social systems; environment/society; urban/non urban environment; North/South. All these considerations have led him to opt for interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral, systems and integrated approaches..
